Moving to the Lofoten islands was the greatest present I ever made to myself and the Arctic landscapes are indeed a true treat for any artist’s eyes. Some Lanterns

Unfortunately, there must be a used by date on the Terracolor glazes, the burnt orange turned out quite weird. But overall, I’m pleased.

Yule Tree

There are three tealights inside, it’s my biggest lantern so far. It looks like it has glitter but it’s the flames shining through tiny holes.

Lanterns

Working hard for my private little Yule market. I’m very much into ceramic lanterns at the moment. I get to use texture rolls I had made some while ago but never got to use until now. I love carving in negative, and then press into a slab of clay and… surprise!:

This is SO cool! Now I have to let it dry a bit so I can assemble it into the shape of a boat.

Other things drying:

And my first Yule ornament, painted on wood. I’m quite eager to go back to painting but clay takes a long time to dry. I need to finish all my lanterns as soon as possible.

Progressively

Getting a bit closer to what I want to make but not quite. Glazes are so frustrating. This time, I applied nearly everything with a sponge instead of a paintbrush. I applied 4 layers of Opalescent over my underglazes but I want to try with 6. So, once again, not entirely satisfied but a bit more hopeful…
