Welcome to my Inner World. I am a French self-taught artist, and these past seventeen years I have made Norway my home. Moving to the Lofoten islands was the greatest present I ever made to myself and the Arctic landscapes are indeed a true treat for any artist’s eyes. I live with my British soulmate,… Continue Reading
Merino wool is really beautiful but so slow to needle felt, so I wanted to give famous Norwegian wool a try. It’s supposed to be very good for sculptural felting. I did a bit of dyeing yesterday and now I’m really eager to see if it lives up to its reputation.
I felted a Snowman for my little Yule altar. I had fun. Until I started knitting a little scarf. You would think a scarf that small shouldn’t be a problem, but think twice. It took me 4 hours. This is to punish me for my aversion to knitting ;-). In the end, the scarf became… a collar. I heard it’s the fashion among snowmen this year. I’m so eager to start weaving, I believe it will definitely be “my thing”.
Meanwhile, it’s dark and it’s raining almost constantly. Of course, we go for walks, but I don’t even take my camera, it’s just too dark. It’s a very special atmosphere though. Very mysterious and otherworldly.
This is also where Lucy likes to lay down, partly on my legs, when I paint. There, she can spend hours just adoring me. I love her sweet presence, her dark sparkling eyes, her little graceful neck and her big punk ears. We have many nicknames for her. I often call her “my louloute”. My soulmate is most inventive, he calls her Poots, Pootie, Patooti, and it all started with “potato”.
My trip to France was great. I took a few pictures in Brittany, Finistere. I love this area, the people are nice and it’s so quiet and green. I can also see why it’s a land of legends, it is indeed very inspiring.
In between two adventures. I felted and came back with a new Goblin. He’s my Papillon dog’s guardian, he even has the antennas. I showed him briefly to Lucy, very briefly, because, although he’s her protector, she would chew him without a second thought! I must protect the protector.
This little chap says “hello!”. Just started another goblin and I tried for the very first time the spiral/twisted needle. Oh my… very efficient, I love it! This is going to be my needle of choice, no doubt about that. It gets firm very quickly and the needle leaves no poke mark.
When it comes to felting supplies, Heidi Feathers is my favourite supplier. She also has some lovely starter kits.
It feels so good, felting again. It’s a nice break from having to study the theory book for the driving license.
I came across some wonderful coloring books the other day. Have you ever heard of Johanna Basford? I think her designs are totally original and exquisite:
Some of her fans send her pictures of their colored books, I think it’s a great gift for people who aren’t too self confident about drawing yet but would like to explore more the possibilities of colours. I insert here some of the results but you can see more on Johanna Basford’s website ( Johanna Basford ):
I wish you a nice creative time, whichever form it takes!
