Welcome

Welcome to my Inner World. I am a French self-taught artist, and these past seventeen years I have made Norway my home. Moving to the Lofoten islands was the greatest present I ever made to myself and the Arctic landscapes are indeed a true treat for any artist’s eyes. I live with my British soulmate,… Continue Reading

Composite Weave

I was weaving with King Cole Country Tweed yarn and although I like this shade very much, there was no magic.

It just didn’t work with my merino warp yarn. So after 50 cm, I decided to try something else. I think this particular tweed yarn will work better with a dark brown warp. I’ve come back to composing with one main yarn and lots of different ornamental yarns here and there. This is my favourite type of weaving. And I also get to add shiny things! Only 10 days til I travel to France for two weeks. I’ll be very busy with sewing and pretty much nothing else (but I still want to watch Wallace and Gromit again, I’ve developed a fondness for these characters). The good news is that I’m getting now slightly better at sewing (I’ve also simplified the hand-made template that I use).

Progress

There are a few fabrics I meant to take pictures of, and here they are:

And I also worked all day with a prototype as a base for all my garments. It took me the whole day! I’m eager to see whether or not it will work with fabric. I may have to adjust it again.

This kind of work, I don’t know why, is very difficult for me. I find it extremely tedious. But if I’m lucky, I might not have to do it ever again. A good base will work fine with any alteration.

Marble Yarn

Marble yarns really are my favourite. A work in progress on my loom:

I’m in love with my hand-woven fabrics. The more I weave, the less I feel like wearing anything else. My only problem is… my tailoring skills. I messed up two wonderful fabrics, it was a disaster and I’m now very reluctant to cut into these little treasures. But I’m working on it. I bought myself the cheapest fabric I could find so I could train without too much damage. I’ve always loved beautiful clothes, it’s like wearing the stuff of fairy tales…

I’m really glad I took to weaving. There are infinite possibilities and so many beautiful yarns out there.

Oracle

I’ve been working for some time on an oracle and so far, I finished 22 cards and decided it was enough to put it online. I intend to work on some more cards which I will add progressively to the online oracle. Perhaps, there’ ll be 64 cards. Or 500! I don’t know yet, it’ll be a surprise. This is not something I mean to print because it’s primarily for my own use. I find drawing cards online more attractive simply because… I just don’t have the necessary space at home to spread 60 cards. Yes… it’s that bad ;-). Now, I just have to find the right randomizing plugin… and of course, write my own interpretation of each card. My oracle is not meant to tell people anything about their future, the message is set in the now (which naturally can have repercussion on your future), it’s mostly introspective and meditative.

Here is the first card:

Air is emptiness and yet it can uproot trees. When the wind shapes clouds into phantasmagorical creatures, air becomes a storyteller. To let your imagination run wild, you need to let yourself go, become adrift, unanchored, free. Follow the extraordinary paths of air, its subtle movements, its atmospheric interweavings. Be its listener, for its language is the otherworldly language of Soul.
