Welcome to my Inner World. I am a French self-taught artist, and these past twenty years I have made Norway my home. Moving to the Lofoten islands was the greatest present I ever made to myself and the Arctic landscapes are indeed a true treat for any artist’s eyes. I live with my British soulmate,… Continue Reading

Mielikki

It’s 16 degrees but since there’s hardly any wind, it feels much hotter.

We sat this afternoon by a tarn where we saw birds landing and sipping water. I’m not sure they saw us, we stood still. Even mosquitoes left us alone.

This morning, we went into the woods, it was delightful. You can feel we’re getting close to the summer solstice, the vegetation has become extravagant . I had this song in my head while going through the woods, it’s called Mielikki and it’s by a Finnish band called Suden Aika. I love women’s choirs, they bring tears to my eyes, so much power and yet… so much grace. Mielikki is the Finnish goddess of the woods.

An a few photos from these past few days. As you can see, we’re in a pocket of nice weather (it won’t last).

A Teal and Warm Gold Feast for the Eye

Today, I finished assembling my latest woven fabric. It’s made of mostly spun yarns and it is really gorgeous. One of my best, truly.

When I wear it, it is very distracting, I can’t stop looking at all the details, it’s mesmerizing.

I haven’t gone back to digital painting yet, although I miss it a lot, there’s this deep craving in my soul. I’m considering acquiring a graphic tablet which works as a monitor, you can paint directly on the screen itself. It sounds really great. All my paintings are gone because of this ransomware virus and I need a new start. Meanwhile, I’ve worked a bit on Pixie’s portrait with my water soluble oil paints and I showed it to her today. She looked at it… and growled. Which is very flattering!

And a little video ( I love horsetails!):

Seljefløyter

Yesterday, I got a wonderful present form my Soulmate, two sallow flutes in different tunings. The longest one has a lower pitch, it can fit different kind of moods. The decorations are something I added (my own ceramic beads and hand-spun yarn). I’m very pleased, no doubt I will spend hours and hours just travelling to other worlds with them.

In the morning, I went to my favourite little beach and took some videos. But for the afternoon walk, the sun flared in front of my camera and all the footage is wasted. I saved only the bit with my darling girls. I should get a sun shield for the lens.

In the afternoon, the sun was high, the light was tricky:

The Language of Trees

Yesterday evening, we went for a walk in the woods. I love the evening light. With the trees swaying in the strong wind, it looked eerie, it reminded me of the Garden of Eden.

This time, I locked the exposure. I think it works a bit better.
