A Blanket Like a Hug

Autumn is here and is advancing pretty fast. I take in all the details, savouring this all too short season.

I made a blanket for Lucy, since she is sensitive to the cold. Teal is her favourite colour. It rather suits her coat, doesn’t it? It was instant success. But I found out Pixie likes it too, she lies on it when Lucy’s not around. Maybe I’ll make one for her too (purple, her favourite colour).

Quiet on Lofoten

 Dear dreamers,

Strange days to say the least, but I hope you’re all well and are taking many precautions. Like many, I’m now out of work. I am not confined, I am still free to go on a long walk every day, and naturally, with all this free time at home, not only are my girls delighted, but I can also devote most of my days to my art. Safe at home. I am applying glazes on some hand-built ceramics and I’m about to start a new painted paper diorama. But mostly, I paint on my graphic tablet and it’s a pure delight. I’ve started work on a project I had been thinking about for a long, long time: creating libraries of elements by theme. I’m currently working on greenery, but there will be lots of boards like the one below, filled with mushrooms, moss and lichens, birds, little characters, etc. I love the idea of creating many collections and playing with them, arranging them in a composition. I absolutely love this! Of course I’m aware it will take a huge amount of time before I can paint enough elements to start a composition but why the hurry? As long as I’m having fun, it works for me.

I also did a bit of spinning:

Lofoten is now very quiet, there is far less traffic. You can feel the birds are having the time of their lives. They are everywhere and so much closer. Tourists have gone and it feels like what Lofoten used to be 20 years ago. Of course, I am worried about where this epidemic will lead but we are not there yet. We have to hope that everybody will take their responsibilities seriously and do what is necessary.

As you can see from the pictures, it feels like spring is on its way, but don’t be fooled, it will snow again, as late as the beginning of May. Meanwhile, it was a very nice walk, 5 degrees celcius and the sun was shining.

New Design

As I redesigned my Home, I also redesigned my blog, although the latter was so much more complicated, it was a steep learning curve and it took me two weeks of intense mind wrenching, BUT it is done at last! And I’m going to experiment with these new possibilities in a creative project. But more about this later.

I also added the possibility to suscribe to my blog at the bottom of the homepage on the right hand side , you can enter your email address and you’ll get a notification when I publish a new post. There is also a good old fashionned guestbook where you can leave a comment. I love these vintage things.

I finished a forest green scarf for a very gentle soul. I dyed all the yarns and spun half of them. It’s very soft and warm. Like being hugged by a kind spirit of the woods.

I realise I haven’t posted any photos at all of my walks since August. Because I didn’t take any. There has been a very dangerous epidemic that has affected dogs in Norway, killing many of them. The veterinary Institute still doesn’t know what precisely is causing all these deaths. So, I left my camera at home all this time in order to get full control of what my girls were doing, making sure they were not putting their nose on something unsavoury. The outburst has now subsided but I’m still wary.

Today, I had to take pictures, autumn is at its peak, and its most gorgeous. Now, exactly now, is my favourite part of the year.
