Hooked

Preparing for my second weaving project. The baskets are filling up with different kind of yarns and it starts to look like I’m aiming at world domination. I love having all these possibilities. But let me tell you: this is an expensive hobby. You’d think it’d be cheaper to make your own fabric but most of the time, it is quite the contrary. My first project cost me 25 euros worth  of yarn. I’m going to be dressed like a queen, no less. I went to buy some yarn for my warp this morning and was amused to see the ladies in the shop were discreetly trying to eye my shawl. So, it will be mostly teal with small stripes of orange and moss green for my warp (on the right of the picture), all made of wool and alpaca and for the weft a mix of things with 75% wool. I made sure this time there wouldn’t be any difference in shrinkage, or at least not enough to matter:

I think it will be fairly warm.

Meanwhile Lucy and Pixie are playing on the daybed.
