Lanterns for Yule

I am very pleased with the results of my glaze firing. Not so pleased with the pictures but they will have to do. These are my two lanterns:

The lady bears a striking resemblance to… me, even I have to admit. She is Melusine, the French Faery, although not your ordinary faery, she’s more of a “Vouivre”, a dragoness. I love her for many reasons, but foremost because she’s a builder. The legend says she built many castles. She is extremely creative.

The Yulenisse is the local, Norwegian, Christmas elf. He looks more like a gnome to me but mainly he reminds me of Morozko, my dear Father Frost.

This time, I actually used very few glazes, it’s mostly underglazes (I like the matte powdery effect) and glazes only on some very restricted areas. I think I found the right balance. I am pleased.
