Welcome

Welcome to my Inner World. I am a French self-taught artist, and these past seventeen years I have made Norway my home. Moving to the Lofoten islands was the greatest present I ever made to myself and the Arctic landscapes are indeed a true treat for any artist’s eyes. I live with my British soulmate,… Continue Reading

East Wind

I found a stretch of road sheltered from the icy east wind today, thanks to my driving license (and the mountains…). I often think back to last year at the same period and all the self-doubt, the real trouble I had learning to drive. And it went on until June when after a second attempt, I finally passed the exam. I’m so glad it’s over. I’ve become better at driving. But I’m not so sure I’ll ever get better at sewing. This is a disaster. I might have to sew straight on the dummy, perhaps it will give me more control because every time I’m on this sewing machine, I do weird (unspeakable) things. I could try to fit the garment with a stapler. But of course, it will take far more time. What drives me mad is that sewing requires so much overwhelming precision. But as long as I find a plan B, there is still hope for me.

Polar Night

Happy New Year!

After two months of almost continuous rain, snow is here at last. And in 5 days, the sun should come back after the long polar night. As a special treat, I drove us to Steine. The girls really enjoyed the change of scenery. They were actually overjoyed. I love these brooding skies, the mystery. It sparks your imagination.

Progress

There are a few fabrics I meant to take pictures of, and here they are:

And I also worked all day with a prototype as a base for all my garments. It took me the whole day! I’m eager to see whether or not it will work with fabric. I may have to adjust it again.

This kind of work, I don’t know why, is very difficult for me. I find it extremely tedious. But if I’m lucky, I might not have to do it ever again. A good base will work fine with any alteration.

Marble Yarn

Marble yarns really are my favourite. A work in progress on my loom:

I’m in love with my hand-woven fabrics. The more I weave, the less I feel like wearing anything else. My only problem is… my tailoring skills. I messed up two wonderful fabrics, it was a disaster and I’m now very reluctant to cut into these little treasures. But I’m working on it. I bought myself the cheapest fabric I could find so I could train without too much damage. I’ve always loved beautiful clothes, it’s like wearing the stuff of fairy tales…

I’m really glad I took to weaving. There are infinite possibilities and so many beautiful yarns out there.
