Welcome to my Inner World. I am a French self-taught artist, and these past twenty years I have made Norway my home. Moving to the Lofoten islands was the greatest present I ever made to myself and the Arctic landscapes are indeed a true treat for any artist’s eyes. I live with my British soulmate,… Continue Reading

Seasonal Greetings

No white Christmas this year, only pouring rain. But the spirit’s here, on my Yule altar.

Merry Christmas from Lucy and me! She got a reindeer horn as one of her presents!

Solstice Eve

Happy Solstice to you and magical blessings on this darkest night of the year!

Tomorrow, the day will last just a bit longer. I can’t wait to see the new sun shine with its ecstatic light on all my new projects, tilt its head with a jovial smile towards all these living things down here trying hard to make things happen. Good things. Let’s work our little magic, one step at the time…

Lanterns for Yule

I am very pleased with the results of my glaze firing. Not so pleased with the pictures but they will have to do. These are my two lanterns:

The lady bears a striking resemblance to… me, even I have to admit. She is Melusine, the French Faery, although not your ordinary faery, she’s more of a “Vouivre”, a dragoness. I love her for many reasons, but foremost because she’s a builder. The legend says she built many castles. She is extremely creative.

The Yulenisse is the local, Norwegian, Christmas elf. He looks more like a gnome to me but mainly he reminds me of Morozko, my dear Father Frost.

This time, I actually used very few glazes, it’s mostly underglazes (I like the matte powdery effect) and glazes only on some very restricted areas. I think I found the right balance. I am pleased.

Lovely Polar Night

How I wish it could snow like this the whole duration of the polar night (one month), it brings out so much light. Today’s walk was extremely delightful, It’s too bad the battery of my camera ran flat, but Lucy and I had immense fun. Her favourite game is jumping after the snow I kick up with my boots. She’s now sleeping after her wondrous adventure in the snow, but there’s a saying: a tired Papillon is a happy Papillon.
