I’ve been wanting to go back to physical painting for a while. I have so many good memories of painting on big wooden boards, drinking tea, and being careful not to drop the paintbrush in the cup (which nevertheless happened more often than I can recall). So I got a scroll saw machine and reopened my box of oils. THIS IS FUN!
I still paint the draft digitally, colors, shades and all, which I find very practical (it’s also quick and it gives me an idea of the final result, even if I’ll improvise a bit on the way).

Getting a bit closer to what I want to make but not quite. Glazes are so frustrating. This time, I applied nearly everything with a sponge instead of a paintbrush. I applied 4 layers of Opalescent over my underglazes but I want to try with 6. So, once again, not entirely satisfied but a bit more hopeful…
I have to add some beads to my tree.
On my birthday, the air was still very chilly but I took Lucy for a walk along a path where Loki loved racing with the cars (at a safe distance). Lucy loved it and the path was fragrant with all the Rowan tree flowers and there were good memories at every corner. On the way back, we stopped by some moorland covered with cotton grass (so many of them this year!).
