Selkie

Traduction Française ici
I’m totally charmed by the animation movie, Song of the Sea. I’ve watched it three times within the last week. The music by Bruno Coulais is also wonderful (like most of his soundtracks). I was not so enthusiastic about the anime look of the characters, but in the end, it works. And of course, I’m most enthralled by the Celtic background and the Selkie legend. Clarissa Pinkola Estes who wrote the famous Women Who Run with the Wolves relates the Selkie skin (her seal form) to the care of the Soul. This speaks to me immensely, since my art is totally devoted to it. If you haven’t watched this soulful animation movie, I can only highly recommend it.
And here is possibly my favourite image from the movie:

I have started a mosaic of images, a sort of mandala. The whole thing will be about Loki, my dear dog who passed away in February. I think of him everyday. One of the pictures which will be part of the mosaic is more or less finished:
Lokicropped
It’s the first time I deliberately represent myself. I’m still forever more his “fairy” godmother. In the mountain, I also represented the Giantess of Lofoten, the spirit guardian of this archipelago.
Lucy, our little papillon girl is now 10 weeks, her fur is growing a bit and she shivers less outside. She sleeps with her little head on my neck. She is so clever. She wants to go to bed at 10pm and demands to be entertained at 7am every morning. She got her first Kong yesterday, I rubbed a bit of peanut butter inside the rim and it kept her busy for a loooong time.
Here comes the little cutie:

So glad to see you’re still doing beautiful artwork, and the newest addition to your family- Lucy looks like such a darling! I want to huggle her!
As always, beautiful pictures. Lofoten is one of the places I wish to visit before I leave this ephemeral world.

I hope you’re in the best of health. Looking forward to your finished mandala of Loki :)
