And, like these, the Faerie Queen and the Raven King are secret lovers. Although His power blossoms darkly in the winter and the woods, She does not fear the shadows of His Realm. Although She shines radiant and open, with a brightness that pierces His eyes, He does not try to dim Her Light. Lovesick, they cannot—and will not—resist the pull. But they cannot live for long in each other’s world. And they are wise enough to accept what forces them apart, for the beauty of the moments they are together.
