When I was a child, I loved these little sliding blocks puzzle games. I think they taught me something absolutely crucial : organisation! Living in a small house with so many craft supplies and books is a big challenge, it does feel like pushing blocks around until everything fits perfectly fine. It’s the same process with the day. I like to paint four hours in a row, and I can do this only from 8 pm to midnight. It took me a long time to make the shift, because the evening in my mind belongs to books, movies and series. But I think it would be a pity to miss this opportunity of absolute quietness which only the evening can provide (my dogs go to bed quite early and don’t need to be entertained). Little sliding blocks during the day and a whole compartment in the evening for painting and candlelight… Every day is a little puzzle waiting to be solved.

My little Pixie, always by my side, wherever I am in the house.

According to Olaus Magnus who was a Swedish cartographer in the 16th century, this is where I live, right there where I drew a pink cross, on the edge of the Maelstrom, amid terrible beasts.
