I’ve just come back yesterday from a two day trip to Tromsø to fetch my second-hand car (which I’m very pleased about). I took the coastal steamer back (I didn’t want to drive some 500 kms since I just got my driving license) and slept on board… 12 hours! I’m usually up by 6:30 but the movement of the boat kept luring me into oblivion. The highlight of my trip was… Lofoten. The boat enters the Kingdom of Lofoten by sailing along the Raftsund, which is a long fjord where no road has been built. It is totally wild and dramatic. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this place under a bright blue sky. And I don’t think I want to. Rain and mist are part of its strong enchantment.
