Welcome

Welcome to my Inner World. I am a French self-taught artist, and these past seventeen years I have made Norway my home. Moving to the Lofoten islands was the greatest present I ever made to myself and the Arctic landscapes are indeed a true treat for any artist’s eyes. I live with my British soulmate,… Continue Reading

My Digital Art

Selkie

Traduction Française ici
I’m totally charmed by the animation movie, Song of the Sea. I’ve watched it three times within the last week. The music by Bruno Coulais is also wonderful (like most of his soundtracks). I was not so enthusiastic about the anime look of the characters, but in the end, it works. And of course, I’m most enthralled by the Celtic background and the Selkie legend. Clarissa Pinkola Estes who wrote the famous Women Who Run with the Wolves relates the Selkie skin (her seal form) to the care of the Soul. This speaks to me immensely, since my art is totally devoted to it. If you haven’t watched this soulful animation movie, I can only highly recommend it.
And here is possibly my favourite image from the movie:

I have started a mosaic of images, a sort of mandala. The whole thing will be about Loki, my dear dog who passed away in February. I think of him everyday. One of the pictures which will be part of the mosaic is more or less finished:
Lokicropped
It’s the first time I deliberately represent myself. I’m still forever more his “fairy” godmother. In the mountain, I also represented the Giantess of Lofoten, the spirit guardian of this archipelago.
Lucy, our little papillon girl is now 10 weeks, her fur is growing a bit and she shivers less outside. She sleeps with her little head on my neck. She is so clever. She wants to go to bed at 10pm and demands to be entertained at 7am every morning. She got her first Kong yesterday, I rubbed a bit of peanut butter inside the rim and it kept her busy for a loooong time.
Here comes the little cutie:

Cute Bitey Whirlwind

Traduction Française ici
Lucy has been living with us for two weeks now. She’s doing well. She has 14 toys and gets two walks of 15 mn each daily. The walks are rather short but I’ve read here and there you shouldn’t exceed this amount when they’re young, because of the strain on their muscles. But she gets plenty of play and attention at home. She got a few nicknames, Khaleesi Mother of Dragons, Bitey Whirlwind, and Toddler on Speed.
Unfortunately the coat we received for her was too big, we’re waiting for another one. Meanwhile, it’s Easter weather…

I had this tile I worked on a long while ago and I was not sure what to make of it, until I thought I could – well – use it… as a tile. It’s going to end up as wall decor. Or I will glue it on a piece of furniture. I love Cernunnos (the central figure), it’s my own reinterpretation of the Gunderstrup cauldron:

It will be fired and painted with oils. Looking forward to it!

Let me introduce you to our dearest little friend, Lucy, a Papillon of 8 weeks old. She is still very fragile and sensitive to cold, so as soon as I receive her little coat, I will take her a bit further than the garden. Unfortunately, everything is still covered with snow at the moment, but perhaps on the shore the snow will have melted, so she can delight in interesting smells. I think she weighs no more than 600 grams. We move in slow motion inside the house for it’d be easy to step on her by accident. At night, she sleeps on my pillow and since then, I have the most vivid dreams. She will get stronger, of course, and next year we will welcome into our little circle a Border Collie puppy. Lucy is very clever, she learns fast. This is only the third day and she already knows six words, “sit”, “fetch”,”look”,”come here”, “poopoo”, and “stop”. Well, the last word is still a bit harder for her to grasp, puppies must be puppies after all. She is so cute, we totally adore her. I think she knows it.
Lucy ruling over her Kingdom of Toys:

My trip to France took me to Brittany, I visited Quimper, Monts d’Arrée, Crozon and Huelgoat. I took a few pictures with my old lightweight camera:
