Stationery

I am back from my trip to France and the weather has been glorious these past few days. My suitcase was full of delicious French cheese, and chocolates I’m having fun working on a series of stationery. I love snail mail, I’m planning to devote more time to it and also buy a printer. A lovely woman came to visit, she was very interested in mixed media, so I showed her quickly all the possibilities, textures, stencils, embossing, etc. This morning, I was about to throw away the little random samples when I decided to arrange all of them in a thank you card, adding a few little details here and there

It’s been too long

The Soul Boat

The Soul Boat is now finished. I added beads and cushions. I’m now ready to sail into a parallel world. Play Video After a few attempts at painting a little scene on a round piece of watercolour paper, I must accept the magic is missing. The cutout and collage technique is the only way for me. Harp

I made a little harp for the boat. It will have to go on the roof, too big for the deck. But it’s allright, it will be nice to play up there surrounded by plants and seagulls. With Dragon. A Cute Dragon

I added a cute dragon, some lanterns and plants in pots. Now, I’m going to knit a few cushions for the cabin. Play Video This is just an example of the fun I have with mixed media. First, a bit of liquid gum (Pebeo is the best with an adjustable ruling pen); I might add a bit of colours here and there with Inktense (which is permanent but the layering is interesting); then brush pens in different colours; then I wet the applied colours with a brush, I might sprinkle some pigments in powder while it’still wet and watch them swirl; then I peel the gum away and colour the white parts

Freshening Up

Figure head finished, I just have to add some beads. She is detachable, so I can create copies of her but with different clothes/moods. I still have many things I want to add to the boat. It’s been a while…

I think I neglected my blog because it’s bugging, and it’s becoming increasingly complicated, I just don’t have that kind of time. It is very frustrating when after each update, the customisations you had made just turn into something else. Working on this blog can be so time consuming and expensive. I even considered quitting. Now, I’m not sure. I will think about it. This was taken today. The last sunny day was perhaps one month ago, so today was very much appreciated. Nusfjord
